MOOD FOOD of the Week: Wild Caught Salmon
Mood: Memory
Food: Wild Caught Salmon
Research has shown that Wild Caught Salmon can help calm the mind because…
It is naturally rich in omega-3 fatty acids, an essential nutrient with potent anti-inflammatory properties that has been tied to healthy cognition with age.
Salmon is an excellent source of potassium, which helps support healthy brain tissue and has been linked to higher cognitive function.
It also contains Vitamin D, a neurosteroid that fights the damaging effects of free radicals in the brain for reduced inflammation.
How to add this MOOD FOOD to your diet:
Wild caught salmon is a seafood that is a staple in the diet of many of the healthiest populations around the world and can be enjoyed by everyone. It can be simply baked in the oven with your favorite herbs and spices or similarly air fried. You can also pan sear it, cook it on the grill or in a parchment packet with your favorite veggies. I love having it with a colorful veggie salad or alongside a variety of roasted veggies! If marinating your salmon, be careful to choose sauces that are low in added sugar or make your own so that there are minimal ingredients.
This week, as part of my premium subscription, I am sharing my recipe for Masala Baked Salmon!
How to buy Wild Caught Salmon:
Wild caught salmon is available in the seafood section of most grocery stores, both fresh and frozen, as well as in many fish markets if those exist near you. You can also purchase it canned similar to tuna but look for BPA free canning - as this chemical can be detrimental to mental fitness.
Wishing you a joyful & calm week,
