MOOD FOOD of the Week: Blueberries
MOOD FOOD of the Week: Blueberries
Mood: Memory
Food: Blueberries
Research has shown that blueberries yogurt can help calm the mind because…
They are loaded with anthocyanin, an antioxidant flavonoid that fights the damaging effects of oxidative stress for healthy brain aging
Blueberries are also high in fiber for a healthy gut, reduced brain inflammation and improved cognition
They also contain folate, a key nutrient for brain health that is associated with reduced risk of neurodegenerative conditions
How to add this MOOD FOOD to your diet:
It’s peak blueberry season — the perfect time to enjoy this brain-boosting powerhouse in your daily routine. Blueberries are rich in antioxidants and flavonoids that help reduce inflammation, support memory, and combat oxidative stress.
One of my favorite ways to enjoy them? A handful of fresh blueberries on top of chia seed pudding for breakfast. By the way I routinely add Mood Food Mixers to my chia pudding, yogurt and cottage cheese – its pink and makes me feel good! For a brain-healthy afternoon snack, pair blueberries with a square of dark chocolate for a satisfying blend of antioxidants and fiber. You can also blend frozen blueberries into your green smoothie — they add natural sweetness without spiking blood sugar.
This week, as part of my premium subscription, I am sharing my recipe for my Red, White & Blueberries and Cream! It’s a great way to celebrate the Fourth of July weekend in a brain healthy way!
How to buy blueberries:
Blueberries can be found in most grocery stores and farmers markets and can be bought both fresh or frozen! Depending on where you are, you may even have a berry farm nearby where you can go pick your own fresh blueberries!
Wishing you a joyful & calm week,
